Cassie and Callie turn two tomorrow. We decided to celebrate today with presents and cake and tomorrow with a special outing.
Into the wee hours of the prior night, Chris hung decorations, paper lanterns, and a balloon drop. I decorated the cake and inflated the birthday present Jump-O-Lene. Our little insomniac Everett played an integral role by taking the new Jump-O-Lene on a midnight test run.
The next morning started like any other. The girls courteously alerted us they were awake by jumping in their beds.
After dressing the girls in the fairy outfits Chris bought for them, we headed downstairs. The girls spotted the Jump-O-Lene and paused, assessing the situation. Would they dare enter?
Together, they braved inside and found two new friends – froggie and bunny.
And 400 multicolored balls.
After some jumping and playing, it was time for a birthday treat. Unbeknownst to each other, Chris and I each purchased a bag of the same special birthday candy. The only question is, which twin is sour and which is sweet?
After thirty minutes of the sugar-zoned voices of the candy-addled zombie twins droning “more…more…more…” Chris and I decided to distract them from their namesake confectionery with presents.
They received art supplies, books. money, a toy guitar, a toy car, dress up hats, dress up tutus, and dress up career clothes. So of course, it was time for a quick fashion show.
Exhausted from the fun, the twins adjourned for a birthday mid-afternoon slumber. Stay tuned for more birthday fun involving further dramatic sugar highs, a little sunlight, and lots of sidewalk chalk.
